Having Doubts? Our FAQ

Check all our Frequently Asked Questions

What manufacturing processes does Frigate support?

Frigate supports a wide range of manufacturing routes so you do not need many suppliers. We match each part to the most suitable process for its geometry and volume -

  • Machining and turning for tight tolerance metal parts.
  • Sheet metal for brackets, enclosures and light structures.
  • Casting and forging for robust shapes and higher volumes.

This mix lets Frigate support both development builds and long term series.

How do you protect my drawings and IP?

Frigate protects your drawings and IP using practical, controlled measures before and during production -

  • NDA and contractual protection aligned with your requirements.
  • Secure storage and restricted internal access to project data.
  • Controlled sharing with approved vendors only when necessary.

Together this helps ensure your CAD models, drawings and specifications are used only for manufacturing your parts and not disclosed outside the agreed scope.

What information do you need to quote my part?

To quote your part, Frigate generally needs 2D drawings, 3D models where available, material grade, expected quantities and any surface finish or tolerance notes. Information on functional areas, standards to follow and project phase helps us choose the right process route. With this, we can share realistic pricing, lead time and documentation scope tailored to your specific requirement and timeline.

Can Frigate support continuous supply for production programs?

Yes. Frigate can support continuous supply for production programs with a structured planning approach -

  • Forecast and blanket order based scheduling where required.
  • Safety stock or buffer stock options for key running items.
  • Clear change control when drawings or processes are updated.

This lets us stabilise cost, lead time and quality over the life of your program, while keeping enough flexibility to handle demand fluctuations.

What surface finishes can Frigate provide?

Surface finishing at Frigate is decided part by part so function and appearance are balanced. We can combine several finishes within one project -

  • Anodising for aluminium parts needing protection.
  • Powder coating for fabricated frames and enclosures.
  • Plating or bead blasting for protection and texture.

If your drawing specifies another finish, we review it and suggest an equivalent or compatible option for the chosen process.

How does Frigate manage quality and compliance?

Quality and compliance at Frigate are built around clear controls, records and flexibility. We scale depth based on your industry and part criticality -

  • Incoming, in process and final inspections.
  • MTCs, PPAP, traceability and custom reports.
  • Support for customer or third party inspection.

These elements help ensure each batch meets the needed standards while staying practical for ongoing production and future revisions.

Can you handle both low and high volume production?

Frigate can support both low volume and high volume production for the same design. For early stages we focus on flexible setups and quick feedback so you can validate function and fit without heavy commitment. As volumes grow, we optimise tooling, fixtures and routing to lower piece cost while keeping tolerances, finishes and documentation stable, so you do not have to change suppliers mid program life.

How does the RFQ and order process work with Frigate?

Frigate’s RFQ and order flow is designed to be clear for both engineering and sourcing teams. We focus on early alignment before cutting metal or tooling -

  • You share drawings, volumes and key needs.
  • We review manufacturability, process and risks.
  • You receive pricing, lead time and documents.

Once you approve, Frigate schedules production and keeps you updated until parts are inspected, packed and dispatched from our facility.

Can Frigate support metal and plastic parts in one project?

Many customers prefer one partner for related metal and plastic parts, and Frigate is set up to support that. We can combine several routes in a single project -

  • Machined, sheet metal, cast and forged components.
  • Stamped items, brackets and support hardware.
  • Injection molded plastic parts and inserts.

Managing these under one plan helps interfaces stay consistent and keeps overall responsibility with a single accountable team.

Do you offer design for manufacturability and cost support?

Frigate offers practical design for manufacturability and cost input as part of the review process. We highlight risk features, very tight tolerances, complex joints or challenging finishes and explain their impact on stability and price. Where suitable, we propose small adjustments or alternate routes that keep function intact while improving yield, consistency and total landed cost over the life of the part.
