Enclosures For eVTOL Infrastructure

Frigate fabricates metal enclosures for power, charging, comms, and monitoring, built to your print and tuned for airfield exposure.

Metalwork Dialed to eVTOL Ground Demands

Big-format cabinets kept flat and square

Laser cutting, fixtured forming, and controlled weld sequences hold panel flatness and door gaps on tall, wide enclosures so hardware aligns first time.

Alloy and finish choices for coastal rooftops

316L, 5052/6061, or coated steels pair with zinc-rich primers and durable powders to resist UV, salt fog, and jet-fuel residues common at airfields.

Interfaces prepared for airside equipment

Cutouts and reinforced lands accommodate HV charging gear, breakers, PLCs, RF hardware, and sealed gland plates without field slotting.

Our Clients

Trusted by Engineers and Purchasing Leaders

Excellence You Can Trust

Recognized for achieving verified dimensional stability through advanced process calibration and consistent material performance across every production cycle.

Resist Downwash, Weather and FOD

Geometry and coatings handle high-velocity rotor wash, blowing rain, and debris around pads and taxi lanes.

Wind load and pressure pulses

Ribbing, gusseted frames, and multi-point latching keep panels from oil-canning as downwash and gusts fluctuate during arrivals.

Ingress control under blowing rain

Continuous welds, perimeter gaskets, drip edges, and labyrinth plates support the specified ingress rating while shedding wind-driven water.

FOD-aware geometry

Flush hardware, hemmed edges, and screened vents reduce snag points and prevent debris ingestion near intakes and louvers.

Enclosures For eVTOL Infrastructure

Power Electronics and Charging Readiness

Layouts and clearances suit rectifiers, inverters, switchgear, and charge interfaces at vertiports.

High-voltage segregation

Baffles and partitioned bays separate HV paths from controls while preserving cable bend radius and gland spacing.

Thermal paths without recirculation

Straight-through airflow, stiffened exchanger mounts, and well-placed louvers move heat off drives and filters while avoiding short-circuiting.

Connector and cable management

Bulkhead plates, strain relief, and guided sweep protect large-gauge leads and keep access zones uncluttered.

Enclosures For eVTOL Infrastructure

Communications, Visibility and EMI Hygiene

Enclosures support reliable links, clear sighting, and clean signal behavior near RF equipment.

Continuity at seams and doors

Paint-masked lands, door jumpers, and conductive gaskets maintain return paths across openings and gland plates.

Aviation-aware finishes

Durable coats with specified gloss and color improve visibility for ramp crews while resisting chemical spills and UV.

RF-friendly routing

Separated trays and standoff rules keep telemetry, GNSS, and radio lines away from noisy power paths to limit coupling.

Having Doubts? Our FAQ

Check all our Frequently Asked Questions

Where do eVTOL sites stress enclosures the most?

Downwash, gust fronts, and airborne debris hit cabinets harder than typical industrial yards. Salt, UV, and rooftop heat add to the load. Frigate builds to prints with ribbed spans, gusseted frames, and latch layouts that keep panels stable under pressure pulses while finishes resist coastal exposure and ramp chemicals.

How does Frigate handle rotor-wash pressure without panels oil-canning?

Pressure spikes are met with formed ribs, internal bracing, and multi-point latching that spread loads. Hinge reinforcement keeps door lines true after transport and lift. Frigate sequences forming and welds so residual stress stays low, helping large faces remain flat when aircraft arrive and depart.

Which alloy and coating stacks make sense for coastal rooftops or pads?

Frigate recommends material and finish pairings matched to site conditions -

  • 316L for door and flange areas; isolated hardware to limit galvanic pairs.
  • 5052/6061 for lighter panels with zinc-rich primer under durable powder.
  • Hemmed edges and controlled edge geometry for longer coating life.
  • Post-fabrication stainless passivation at cut edges and welds where specified.
Do Frigate builds support high-voltage charging gear without field mods?

Yes. Reinforced lands, clear bend radii, and gland spacing are fabricated to the print so breakers, rectifiers, and connectors seat cleanly. Frigate keeps exchanger and fan mounts stiff, and preserves sweep paths for large-gauge leads to avoid pinch points during assembly on the ramp.

What’s the approach to blowing rain and FOD around vertiports?

Frigate combines geometric and sealing tactics to meet the ingress level specified -

  • Continuous welds, perimeter gaskets, drip edges, and labyrinth plates.
  • Screened vents and flush hardware to cut snag points.
  • Weep paths that move condensate out without splash-back.
  • Flat, uninterrupted gasket lands so seals compress uniformly.
Can EMI be kept in check near radios, telemetry, and GNSS gear?

Yes. Frigate maintains conductive paths and clean routing from the start -

  • Paint-masked lands, bonded studs, and door jumpers for continuity.
  • Conductive gaskets at seams and gland plates to contain emissions.
  • Separation rules so RF and telemetry stay away from noisy HV paths.
  • Ground points reserved for filters and cable shields as called out on the print.
How is heat moved off drives and chargers in sun-exposed locations?

Thermal behavior is addressed through layout and flow discipline that Frigate fabricates into the cabinet -

  • Partitioned bays and straight-through airflow to avoid recirculation.
  • Stiffened panels for exchanger or fan assemblies with low pressure-drop paths.
  • Double-wall roofs or reflective finishes to reduce solar gain.
  • Component placement that favors direct flow over high-dissipation gear.
Which visibility and finish cues help ramp crews?

Color, gloss, and labeling improve line-of-sight on busy decks. Frigate applies durable coats to the specified gloss and hue, balances glare with readability, and keeps high-touch zones consistent in texture so operators can identify access points in variable light and weather.

What if the drawing risks tolerance stack-up or awkward vent placement?

DFM input is available on request. Frigate can flag gasket compression risks, fastener isolation needs, bend relief near seals, and vent or louvers that may face downwash. Feedback keeps the same external form while improving repeatability and airflow paths before metal is cut.

How are doors and wide panels kept aligned after transport?

Laser cutting, fixtured forming, and controlled weld sequences hold geometry, while hinge carriers and multi-point latches keep gaps uniform. Frigate checks critical spans during build, so doors, side panels, and window cutouts stay in plane with frames, reducing rattle and maintaining seal compression on the pad.
