Fabricated sheet metal enclosures for small and compact industrial machinery, automation equipment, laboratory instruments, medical devices, and bench-top systems — manufactured to your machine interface drawing with mounting provisions, access panels, viewing windows, and service entry positions all referenced to your machine datum. Enclosures ship complete and assembled, not in sections. Machine interface dimensional accuracy, cosmetic finish quality, and volume production consistency are the primary manufacturing outputs — not just structural adequacy.
Machine interface dimensional accuracy is the defining manufacturing requirement for small machinery enclosures — not general dimensional tolerance. Mounting hole positions, pilot diameter fits, and locating face positions are all held to ±0.3 mm from the machine datum and verified by CMM at first article. These are the dimensions that determine whether the enclosure fits the machine correctly at your assembly line without adjustment. Press brake programmes and CNC punch programmes are locked to the first article — not re-set between production batches — so machine interface dimensions are consistent across every unit in a production run, not just the first article submitted for approval.
Cosmetic finish is managed as a measured output on small machinery enclosures in a way it typically is not on large structural fabrications. At small machinery scale, the enclosure is a visible surface of the product — panel waviness, witness marks from weld spatter, colour variation between batches, and surface texture inconsistency are all visible and affect your product’s appearance in the field.
Powder coat colour is verified by spectrophotometer (ΔE ≤1.5) against your approved first article standard on every production lot. Panel surface preparation — weld spatter removal, edge dressing, and panel flatness — is confirmed at first article cosmetic approval before production release. Protective film is applied to all cosmetic faces before dispatch as standard.

At Frigate, quality is built into every stage of manufacturing. Our approved Quality Management System ensures that every material component.
Before production begins, all incoming materials are checked against specifications, drawings, and supplier documents.
Quality is monitored during manufacturing to prevent defects and maintain process consistency.
Finished parts are inspected before dispatch to confirm compliance with customer drawings and tolerances.
Finished components are packed safely to prevent damage during handling and transportation.
To help buyers evaluate our quality systems, we provide sample documents that reflect our inspection and reporting standards.
Complex geometries engineered solutions that move businesses forward.
Before the enclosure geometry is finalised — specifically before mounting interface positions, access panel locations, and service entry points are locked in the machine design. Enclosure decisions made at this stage affect the machine assembly process, maintenance access, and production line ergonomics. Frigate’s DFM review at the concept stage costs nothing and identifies conflicts between the enclosure geometry and machine assembly requirements before they become drawing change requests. Submit your current machine layout drawing under NDA and DFM feedback is returned within 5 working days.
The approved first article enclosure finish is retained as the production colour reference at Frigate’s facility for the life of the programme. Every subsequent production lot is verified by spectrophotometer against that reference — ΔE ≤1.5 acceptance criterion. Where your brand colour is defined by a RAL, NCS, Pantone, or physical sample, Frigate develops the powder formulation matched to that standard before first article and holds it as a programme-specific specification. You do not need to resubmit a colour reference with each re-order.
Submit your machine frame interface drawing showing the mounting datum, hole pattern, pilot features, and any mating face flatness requirement alongside the enclosure drawing. Frigate’s CMM programme at first article verifies all machine interface features against those datums — not against general dimensional tolerance. The CMM report is available for your incoming inspection and for confirming that the first production batch matches the approved first article before your machine assembly line receives the enclosures.
The NPI and pilot build stages establish and lock the production process — CNC programmes, press brake programmes, jig tooling, and cosmetic standards are all confirmed and documented at first article. At volume production, those locked programmes run without re-setup between batches. AQL sampling replaces full CMM inspection per batch on the machine interface dimensions. The enclosure your production line receives at volume is manufactured by the same locked process that produced the approved first article — not a re-interpretation of the drawing at higher volume.
All three trace to specific process control gaps. Orange peel is a powder application or cure profile issue — confirmed and corrected at first article by adjusting application parameters and curing profile. Colour drift is a measurement gap — Frigate verifies colour by spectrophotometer on every lot, not visually, so drift is caught before dispatch rather than at incoming inspection. Visible weld marks are a surface preparation failure — weld spatter removal and panel surface preparation are confirmed at the first article cosmetic approval gate, which must be signed off before production release alongside the dimensional FAI.
