How does your sleeve design prevent cold flow and rotation under high-pressure cycling?

Our valves utilize a fully molded, machined body cavity with built-in metal retention ridges. These internal grooves mechanically lock the high-performance PTFE sleeve into place, preventing both axial rotation and cold flow displacement even under severe, continuous pressure cycling.

Can these valves be adjusted inline if a leak occurs?

Yes. If wear occurs over time, the valve’s adjusting bolts on the top bonnet can be tightened slightly. This down-thrusts the plug deeper into the tapered PTFE sleeve, instantly restoring the tight perimeter seal without requiring any pipeline downtime or removal. 

What specific torque adjustments should we expect when transitioning from automated ball valves?

Because the soft sleeve covers 360° of the plug, contact friction is inherently higher than in standard ball valves. While this guarantees superior sealing, it requires higher breakout torque; we recommend upsizing your pneumatic or electric actuators by roughly 20 – 30% compared to an equivalent ball valve to ensure reliable automation.

How do your soft-seated plug valves handle vacuum or high-velocity gaseous applications?

For full vacuum or high-velocity gas services, we secure the sleeve using relief ports or specialized anchoring configurations to prevent the liner from collapsing inward or deforming. Additionally, we offer optional PFA-encapsulated plugs to handle high-velocity micro-abrasion without tearing the primary sealing face. 

Are these soft-seated plug valves fire-safe?

Yes, our plug valves can be ordered with certified fire-safe designs conforming to API 607 standards. In the event of an external fire that destroys the primary soft sleeve, secondary metal-to-metal seating seals come into contact to prevent dangerous external leakage.
