What materials does Frigate use for critical expanding plug valve internals?

Critical drive internals, such as the lower stem, slip, and worm gear shaft, are manufactured from high-tensile ASTM A322 Grade 4140 bar stock and forgings. Pressure-containing boundaries like the plug, bonnet, and lower plate utilize durable carbon and low-alloy steels including ASTM A216 WCB, A350 LF2, and A352 LCC. 

Can these valves handle low-temperature industrial operations?

Yes. By opting for material grades like ASTM A350 Gr. LF2 and ASTM A352 Gr. LCC for your plugs, bonnets, and lower plates, our valves are fully optimized to retain impact toughness and structural integrity in low-temperature applications. 

How does Frigate ensure dimensional accuracy across custom manufacturing runs?

Every expanding plug valve component undergoes rigorous coordinate measuring machine (CMM) inspections and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) validation. This ensures that critical tolerances on mating parts such as the plug slots, slips, and lower stem keys perfectly match our engineering schematics to eliminate field assembly friction. 

Are custom dimensions available beyond the standard 2" to 16" matrix?

Yes. Frigate provides comprehensive contract manufacturing services. While our standard engineering catalog spans from 2-inch to 16-inch nominal sizes, our technical team can adjust casting patterns and machining profiles to fit custom infrastructure requirements. 

What standard quality documentation is provided with a Frigate valve shipment?

We provide a comprehensive quality documentation package with every order. This typically includes Mill Test Certificates (MTC) per EN 10204 Type 3.1, Hydrostatic and Pneumatic Pressure Test Reports compliance certificates (API 6D/API 598), Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) reports if requested, and standard warranty certificates.
