How does a metal-seated plug valve prevent mechanical seizure under high-temperature expansion?

To accommodate thermal expansion without jamming, these valves are engineered with precise clearances and utilize high-velocity oxygen fuel (HVOF) applied coatings, such as tungsten carbide, which match the thermal expansion coefficients of the body and plug materials.

What makes this design superior to a metal-seated ball valve in high-concentration slurry applications?

Unlike ball valves that feature large, recessed internal cavities where solids settle, compress, and seize the trim, the plug valve features a cavity-free geometry that continuously displaces particulate matter away from the sealing faces during rotation.
