How does the floating design handle low-pressure or vacuum sealing applications?

While floating ball valves rely on upstream line pressure to push the ball against the downstream seat, our designs incorporate pre-loaded seat inserts (using synthetic elastomeric or wave springs). This mechanical pre-compression ensures a tight, reliable seal at low differential pressures or vacuum conditions before line pressure takes over.

Are these floating ball valves fire-safe certified?

Yes, Frigate’s floating ball valves are standardly certified to API 607 and ISO 10497 fire safety standards. In the event of a fire that destroys the primary soft seats, the valve automatically utilizes a secondary metal-to-metal seat backup to prevent external leakage and contain the process media safely.

Can these valves be adapted for automated systems?

AbsolutelyAll of our floating ball valves are built with integral ISO 5211 mounting pads, allowing for seamless direct mounting of pneumatic actuators, electric actuators, or limit switch boxes without requiring specialized bracket modifications. 

What media types are compatible with standard seat options like PTFE and PEEK?

PTFE and RPTFE seats provide excellent chemical resistance and low friction for standard utilities and chemicals up to 200°C. For high-pressure, high-temperature, or slightly abrasive media, harder materials like PEEK, Devlon, or dedicated metal-to-metal seating are utilized to prevent premature wear. 

Does Frigate’s floating ball valves support bidirectional flow sealing?

Yes, our floating ball valves are inherently bidirectional. The floating ball mechanism utilizes upstream pipeline fluid pressure to push the ball securely against either the downstream or upstream seat, ensuring an equally tight, bubble-tight seal regardless of the media flow direction.
