Product Description

Designed for demanding applications, these cables feature proprietary insulation compounds that resist intense flame, high-dose radiation, and severe mechanical impacts. They eliminate toxic gas emissions during a thermal excursion, preventing corrosive damage to control room electronics and ensuring maximum uptime for emergency power and communication networks.

Armor Type

Galvanized steel wire armor (SWA) or aluminum wire armor (AWA) for single-core

Outer Jacket

Heavy-duty, UV-resistant, anti-rodent/anti-termite LSZH compound

Operating Temperature Range

-30° C to +90° C (continuous operation)

Short Circuit Temperature

250° C (maximum duration 5 seconds)

Fire Resistance Standards

BS 6387 (Cat C, W, Z), IEC 60331-21, BS 8491

Smoke Density Emission

IEC 61034-2 (Light transmittance > 60%)

Acid Gas Evolution

IEC 60754-1 (Halogen acid gas output < 0.5%)

Flame Propagation

IEC 60332-1-2 and IEC 60332-3-24 Cat C

IEC 60332-1-2 and IEC 60332-3-24 Cat C

12 X D (where D is the overall cable diameter)

Tensile Strength

50 N/mm ² minimum for insulation and outer sheath

Technical Advantages

Our specialized mica tape and cross-linked insulation architecture guarantee uninterrupted data and power transmission for up to 3 hours at temperatures exceeding 180°C. Furthermore, the advanced Low Smoke Zero Halogen (LSZH) jacketing ensures minimal, non-toxic smoke emission, maintaining clear evacuation pathways and safeguarding personnel during critical events.

Having Doubts? Our FAQ

What makes Frigate’s cables different from standard flame-retardant cables?

Standard flame-retardant cables are designed to limit the spread of a fire, but they eventually degrade and fail to conduct electricity. Frigate’s Fire Survival Cables utilize a dedicated mica glass tape barrier and proprietary insulation that allows the cable to continue transmitting critical power and data even while directly engulfed in a 950° C flame.

Can these cables be customized for unique chemical or environmental exposures?

Yes. Depending on your project requirements, we can configure the outer jacket with enhanced properties, including specialized anti-rodent, anti-termite, moisture-resistant, or hydrocarbon-resistant compounds to withstand harsh industrial environments.

How do your cables support project compliance regarding toxicity and smoke?

Our cables utilize zero-halogen materials compliance-tested to IEC 60754 and IEC 61034 standards. In a fire, they produce minimal smoke and virtually zero corrosive gases, keeping evacuation pathways visible and preventing expensive control room electronics from being destroyed by acid mist.

Do you provide localized testing certifications for large-scale enterprise procurement?

Frigate supplies comprehensive testing documentation and compliance certificates matching international standards like BS 6387 (CWZ) and IEC 60331 with every production batch. For enterprise clients requiring third-party validation, we can coordinate with independent inspection agencies during the QA phase.

How do custom cross-sections or higher core counts affect the stated lead times?

Standard core configurations (2-core to 4-core) typically align with our listed lead-time table. Highly specialized multi-core instrumentation setups or custom cross-sections require custom tooling adjustments, which may extend production timelines by 1 to 2 weeks; this will be detailed explicitly in your initial quotation.
