Fabricated steel electrical cabinets for distribution, control, automation, and switchgear housing applications — manufactured to your drawing across floor-standing, wall-mount, free-standing, and rack-mount formats. Sheet thickness, internal mounting provisions, door configuration, gland entry layout, and surface finish are all defined by your specification. Supplied with dimensional consistency and finish quality maintained across every production batch — not just at first article.

Primary Material

Cold-rolled close-annealed (CRCA) steel IS 513 / EN 10130 CR4; zinc phosphate pre-treated before powder coat

Sheet Thickness

Structural frame: 2.0–3.0 mm; door and side panels: 1.5–2.0 mm; internal partitions and mounting plates: 1.5 mm; gland entry plates: 2.0 mm

External Dimensional Tolerance

±0.5 mm on all external cabinet dimensions; ±1.0 mm diagonal squareness over full height

Component Mounting Hole Position

±0.3 mm true position; CNC-punched to locked programme referenced to cabinet datum

Rack Flange Hole Position

±0.2 mm true position for 19″ and 23″ EIA rack formats; EIA-310-E hole pattern and spacing

Product Description

Frigate fabricates electrical cabinets from CRCA steel to your drawing with external dimensional tolerance held to ±0.5 mm and component mounting hole positions to ±0.3 mm. Press brake programmes are set and locked to the approved first article — not re-set from the drawing between production runs.

This is what maintains dimensional consistency batch-to-batch across a production programme, not just at first article. Protective film is applied to all cosmetic faces before dispatch as standard. Mounting plates, DIN rail provisions, earthing studs, and gland entry plates are installed per your drawing before dispatch.

Door Seal

EPDM or PVC compression gasket at door perimeter for IP41 and above; continuous compression seal for IP54 and IP65

DIN Rail

35 mm top-hat rail (EN 60715); factory-installed at drawing-specified positions; G-type rail available;

Mounting Plate

2.0 mm CRCA steel back-panel mounting plate; removable for bench assembly option; pre-punched to your component layout drawing

Earthing Provisions

M6 / M8 earthing studs at defined positions; main earth bar provisions; internal bonding surfaces Alodine-treated where specified

Technical Advantages

Surface finish is managed as a measured output — not a visual check. Powder coat colour is verified by spectrophotometer against your approved first article standard on every production lot (ΔE ≤1.5). DFT is measured and recorded per lot.

We have non-standard cabinet dimensions across our product range. Does Frigate work from custom drawings or only standard sizes?

Frigate works entirely from your drawing — there are no standard size constraints. Custom width, height, depth, combined access configurations, and non-standard mounting provision layouts are all within standard fabrication scope. Submit your drawing and DFM feedback is returned within 3 working days covering any features that affect dimensional consistency or finish quality in production.

Our current supplier's cabinets vary in colour between batches and our client notices. How does Frigate control that?

Colour variation between batches almost always happens when the finish is checked visually rather than measured. Frigate verifies powder coat colour by spectrophotometer against your approved first article standard on every production lot — ΔE ≤1.5 is the acceptance criterion. If a batch measures outside that threshold, it is re-finished before dispatch. The approved colour standard is retained at Frigate’s facility for the life of the programme.

We need mounting plates pre-punched to our component layout. Is that within Frigate's scope?

Yes — mounting plates are CNC-punched to your component layout drawing with hole positions held to ±0.3 mm, installed in the cabinet, and dispatched ready for component population. Submit your component layout drawing alongside the cabinet drawing and both are covered within the same DFM review and first article process.

We're running a panel building programme and need consistent cabinet supply across the year. How does Frigate structure that?

For ongoing production programmes, Frigate retains all press brake programmes, punch programmes, approved colour standards, and process documentation between orders so re-orders arrive consistently without a re-qualification cycle. For programmes with a defined annual volume, a blanket order arrangement with rolling call-off releases is available — this secures capacity and stabilises pricing across the year rather than treating each order as a separate queue entry.

We're sourcing cabinets for a project that requires IEC 61439-1 TTA documentation. Can Frigate provide that?

Where the cabinet construction is within a type-tested scope, Frigate supplies a written IEC 61439-1 TTA verification statement per shipment confirming the cabinet is a type-tested assembly. The statement is supported by the relevant type test reports and is formatted for direct submission to project verification authorities. The scope of type-tested configurations is confirmed at the enquiry stage — contact Frigate’s engineering team with your cabinet specification and rated current requirement.
