The dual-compression mechanism independently clamps the cable armour and the outer sheath, ensuring sustained mechanical grip and IP-66 ingress protection under vibration, thermal cycling, and cable load conditions. Manufactured from nickel-plated brass with nitrile/neoprene rubber sealing elements, these glands cover cable ODs from 8 mm to 104 mm across 30+ size variants operating between −20°C and +80°C.

Single compression glands clamp only one cable layer, leaving the other unrestrained. Frigate’s double compression design independently locks both the wire armour and the outer sheath, preventing axial cable movement under vibration or mechanical load. This preserves IP-66 sealing integrity over the full service life and reduces cable pullout risk in demanding industrial and panel installations. 

Are BPF flameproof glands certified for Zone 1 and Zone 2 hazardous area installations?

Frigate’s BPF series complies with IS/IEC 60079:Part-1, qualifying them for Zone 1 and Zone 2 hazardous area installations. The 25 mm barrel depth meets the certified flameproof flame path length requirement. Frigate’s double compression glands accommodate both steel wire armour (SWA) and steel tape armour (STA) cables. The brass armour clamp and clamping ring assembly provides positive mechanical grip on both armour types.
