Ductile Iron Gratings

Gratings in heavy-load zones often fail due to weak frames or surface fatigue. Our Ductile Iron Gratings resist these issues by combining EN-GJS grade materials with wide crossbar spacing and reinforced ribs.

Panel Size (L × W)

Up to 2000mm × 1000mm

Bearing Bar Thickness

8mm to 20mm

Bearing Bar Depth

30mm to 150mm

Bearing Bar Spacing

20mm to 60mm (Standard: 30mm, 40mm)

Cross Bar Spacing

50mm to 200mm (Typical: 100mm, 150mm)

Overall Height/Thickness

40mm to 180mm (Depends on bar depth + casting design)

Product Description

Standard grates crack under repeated axle loads or thermal shifts. We cast our panels to meet 25 Ton/m² strength and 700°C peak temperature needs for industrial-grade performance.

EN 124, ISO 1083, ASTM A536, BS EN 1433

Corrosion Resistance

Moderate-High (Depends on coating; bare ductile iron resists oxidation better than cast iron)

Temperature Resistance

-40°C to +400°C (Epoxy coated); Up to 700°C (Bare, short-term exposure)

Slip Resistance

R11 to R13 (Cast-in serrations), Smooth (Standard), Raised Lug Patterns

Technical Advantages

Load failure and brittle cracking are common in cast iron alternatives. Our Ductile Iron Gratings use ASTM A536 Grade 65-45-12 for better ductility and fatigue resistance.

Edge treatments like reinforced borders and anti-lift lugs keep panels secure under dynamic loads. Options like R13 serrated patterns and epoxy coats improve both grip and corrosion shielding in long-term use.

Industry Applications

Logistics Loading Docks

Withstand forklift wheel loads and axle pressure using 100mm bearing bar depth and anti-lift lugs.

Urban Drainage Systems

Galvanized finish helps prevent corrosion in roadside rainwater drains and manhole access covers.

Port and Shipyard Flooring

Bare ductile iron supports high temperatures and static loads in heat-exposed coastal setups.

Rail Maintenance Bays

Custom frame reinforcements support railcar equipment weight and fit inspection trench dimensions.

Mining Conveyor Walkways

Epoxy-coated variants provide secure footing and resist abrasives in dust-heavy mining corridors

Industrial Processing Plants

Open area configurations offer 50% airflow and liquid drainage for refinery or tank farm platforms.

Made for Heavy-Use Surface Installations

Our Ductile Iron Gratings offer high strength and design flexibility for safety-critical surfaces. We supply coated or bare models to suit drainage, traffic load, or thermal exposure requirements.

You can get multiple bar spacing, depth, and finish options as per site layout. We support your sourcing needs with product-ready panels built for daily use and low service downtime.

Having Doubts? Our FAQ

Check all our Frequently Asked Question

Can we customize the bearing bar depth to suit different loading zones?

Yes, we offer bearing bar depths ranging from 30mm to 150mm to match varied load requirements. This helps in balancing material use with strength needs across different site sections. You can select a uniform or mixed-depth layout based on expected weight distribution.

How do we choose the right coating for outdoor or corrosive environments?

Hot-dip galvanizing works well for general outdoor use, while epoxy suits chemical-heavy or coastal zones. We also offer bituminous paint for specific utility areas. The right surface finish improves lifecycle performance and lowers yearly maintenance.

Is it possible to get panels pre-cut for non-rectangular trench openings?

Yes, we support non-standard shapes with pre-cast edges and trimmed dimensions. You can send trench CAD layouts or measurements for alignment. This minimizes site cutting and improves fitting accuracy during final placement.

How much open area should we target for effective water drainage?

Typical drainage efficiency aligns with 50% open area using 40mm pitch bars. Wider spacing increases flow rate but may reduce slip resistance. We help strike the right balance based on use case and surface safety requirements.

Are reinforced edges required for static-heavy machinery zones?

Reinforced frames prevent deformation near static equipment or high-point loads. They also reduce flexing in cases where anchoring isn’t possible. Use them in zones where equipment feet or lifting pressure may cause concentrated stress.
