Technical Advantages

PDU Power Cord is engineered with conductor gauges selected to limit voltage drop to less than 2% across standard and extended lengths. For lengths exceeding 3 meters, conductor cross-sectional area is increased proportionally, maintaining voltage stability at equipment input terminals. This protects voltage-sensitive equipment from undervoltage-induced faults.

PDU Power Cord integrates mechanical locking systems such as V-Lock, IEC Lock, or twist-lock plug variants to prevent unintentional disconnection. Plug retention force exceeds 50N as per IEC 60320-1 specifications, ensuring stable connectivity in environments subject to vibration or high cable tension. Retention reliability is validated through mechanical endurance testing exceeding 2000 mating cycles.

Thermal Aging and Flame Resistance

PDU Power Cord insulation materials are tested per UL 1581 for thermal aging, maintaining dielectric properties after 10,000 hours at elevated temperature. Outer jackets are VW-1 flame rated and resist combustion propagation in enclosed spaces. This ensures suitability for use within hot aisles and cable-dense rack environments without compromising safety margins.

PDU Power Cord is designed to support nonlinear load profiles typical in data center environments with high switching power supply densities. Stranding configuration and conductor inductance are controlled to minimize self-induced voltage distortion under harmonic-rich load conditions. This prevents cable-induced thermal derating in power delivery units.

Having Doubts? Our FAQ

Check all our Frequently Asked Question

How does Frigate ensure PDU Power Cord performance under continuous full-load current?

Frigate uses oxygen-free copper with controlled DC resistance to limit I²R losses. Each PDU Power Cord is tested at 100% rated current to ensure thermal rise stays within IEC 60227 limits. Cords are derating-free up to 40°C ambient. Conductors comply with UL 758 and IEC 60228 Class 5 standards.

What testing does Frigate perform on the dielectric strength of its PDU Power Cords?

Frigate applies 2000V AC dielectric withstand testing for 60 seconds across conductors and ground. Leakage current is maintained below 0.5 mA during the test. All cords are tested per IEC 60320-1 and UL 817. High insulation resistance ensures safety under elevated humidity or conductive dust conditions.

How does Frigate design PDU Power Cord for minimal voltage drop in high-density racks?

Frigate calculates conductor sizing using voltage drop formulas based on actual load, length, and temperature. For extended lengths, 12 AWG or larger wires are used to maintain <2% voltage drop. Power cords are terminated with low-resistance connectors. This ensures stable voltage at the IT equipment input.

What connector retention features does Frigate implement to avoid disconnection in live racks?

Frigate offers IEC Lock, V-Lock, and twist-lock variants depending on PDU type and load profile. All PDU Power Cord connectors exceed 50N retention force as per IEC 60320-1. Each locking system is fatigue-tested for 2000 mating cycles. This prevents accidental disconnects during vibration, movement, or maintenance.

How does Frigate ensure phase identification and load balance with PDU Power Cords?

Frigate offers color-coded jackets and custom-printed labels for L1, L2, and L3 phase mapping. This supports balanced load distribution in 3-phase PDU setups. It also reduces phase swapping errors during installation. Visual coding aligns with ANSI/TIA-942 structured cabling standards for data centers.
