Having Doubts? Our FAQ

Check all our Frequently Asked Questions

How does Frigate ensure dimensional accuracy in complex asymmetric extrusions?

Frigate uses precision-machined dies with tolerance controls as tight as ±0.05mm. Real-time monitoring during extrusion checks for profile deformation and adjusts speed and pressure accordingly. Asymmetric profiles are supported with specialized cooling and tension systems to maintain straightness. This allows consistent output even on sections with unbalanced wall distributions.

What process does Frigate follow to reduce surface defects like die lines or tearing?

Frigate uses nitrided tool steel dies with high surface hardness to minimize wear-induced lines. Billet preheating is carefully controlled within ±5°C to maintain uniform metal flow. For high-visibility applications, Frigate employs post-extrusion surface treatment like precision brushing or anodizing. This reduces surface roughness and improves finish consistency.

How does Frigate handle thermal stress in long-length extrusions?

Frigate maintains die and billet temperature differential within ±10°C to prevent thermal warping. Long profiles are supported using synchronized pullers and temperature-controlled runout tables. This minimizes twist and bowing, especially in profiles over 6 meters. Cooling is done uniformly to control microstructural distortion.

Can Frigate produce profiles combining thin and thick sections in one extrusion?

Yes, Frigate uses finite element simulation to optimize die flow for mixed wall thickness profiles. Thin sections down to 0.8mm and thick areas up to 15mm can be produced in a single pass. Metal flow is balanced to avoid back-end defects and hot tears. This enables structural and cosmetic sections in a single extrusion.

How does Frigate ensure profile straightness in hollow multi-void extrusions?

Frigate uses multi-port dies and tailored porthole bridge designs to balance internal pressure during extrusion. Precision quenching and dual-axis straightening maintain linearity within 1mm over 5-meter profiles. Internal webs are reinforced by varying wall thickness to resist collapse. This process ensures void symmetry and dimensional integrity.
