Technical Advantages

The male plug terminals in Type N Power Cords are constructed from precision-machined nickel-plated brass, offering superior conductivity and oxidation resistance under sustained load. Socket mating surfaces are designed for deep contact engagement, maintaining constant pressure to prevent arcing under surge conditions. This ensures reduced micro-pitting and long-term electrical stability.

Type N Power Cords employ a dedicated center earthing pin and symmetric conductor layout to support TN-S and TT grounding schemes. Ground contact engagement precedes line-neutral connection, minimizing ground potential fluctuations during insertion. This structure provides compliance with fail-safe disconnection protocols in high-reliability systems.

Type N Power Cords

Insulation and Dielectric Strength

Each conductor in Type N Power Cords is jacketed with thermoplastic elastomer or PVC compounds meeting UL 62 and IEC 60227 standards. The insulation provides a minimum dielectric strength of 2.5 kV RMS, ensuring barrier integrity in transient voltage environments. Outer sheaths offer resistance to oils, moisture, and moderate chemical exposure, suitable for industrial plant deployment.

Type N Power Cords are manufactured with molded strain reliefs tested for >10,000 bending cycles per IEC 60884-1 Annex D. The plug-cord interface is designed to withstand axial pull forces up to 100 N, reducing connector fatigue and conductor shear during mechanical loading. This supports vertical mount and plug-in/out duty without compromising conductor integrity.

Having Doubts? Our FAQ

Check all our Frequently Asked Question

How does Frigate ensure the electrical performance consistency of Type N Power Cords during manufacturing?

Frigate implements in-line testing protocols including conductor resistance measurement and dielectric withstand tests to verify electrical parameters. Each Type N Power Cords batch undergoes pull-force and continuity tests per IEC 60884-1 standards. Automated optical inspections confirm correct pin alignment and molding quality. This ensures uniformity and reduces field failure risks.

What quality controls does Frigate apply to guarantee the mechanical durability of Type N Power Cords?

Frigate subjects Type N Power Cords to repeated flex and bend tests exceeding 10,000 cycles. Molded strain reliefs are tested for axial pull resistance above 100 N to prevent conductor fatigue. The use of abrasion-resistant outer jackets enhances longevity in industrial settings. Mechanical tests confirm the cords withstand operational stresses without degradation.

How does Frigate validate the thermal performance of Type N Power Cords for industrial applications?

Thermal cycling tests are performed to simulate temperature fluctuations from -10°C to +70°C, ensuring insulation and contacts maintain integrity. Frigate uses materials rated for UL 94 V-0 flame resistance to prevent ignition risks. Temperature rise is monitored under continuous 20A load conditions to stay within IEC limits. This process certifies reliable operation in heat-prone environments.

What traceability measures does Frigate use for Type N Power Cords to support compliance and inspection?

Each Type N Power Cord produced by Frigate carries batch-specific mold and cable lot numbers etched or printed on connectors and cable jackets. Digital records link these identifiers to detailed production data and test results. This enables full traceability for audits or failure investigations. Frigate’s system supports compliance with ISO 9001 and InMetro requirements.

How does Frigate optimize the conductor and insulation combination in Type N Power Cords to reduce electrical losses?

Frigate selects high-purity copper Class 5 conductors with cross-sections matched to application amperage for minimal resistance. Insulation thickness and material properties are engineered to reduce capacitance and leakage currents. This careful material pairing minimizes voltage drop over extended cable runs. Optimization improves energy efficiency and system reliability.
