ADSS & Aerial cables

Do you agree that reliability and performance are paramount in telecommunications? If yes, then ADSS (All-Dielectric Self-Supporting) and Aerial cables provide cutting-edge solutions. They effectively address the technical challenges faced by utility providers and communication networks. Our ADSS cables utilize advanced polymer materials with UV stabilizers and moisture barriers, ensuring optimal performance in harsh climates.

Conductor Material

Optical fibers encased in reinforced polymer or metal wire

Insulation Material

UV-stabilized polyethylene (PE) or polyvinyl chloride (PVC)

Voltage Rating

Rated for 0-600 V for aerial applications; suitable for communication signal transmission.

Temperature Range

-40°C to +70°C, ensuring performance in extreme environmental conditions.

Fire Resistance

Compliant with IEC 60332-1 for flame propagation; low smoke and halogen-free options available.

Product Description

The cables’ operational temperature range extends from -40°C to +70°C, providing resilience against thermal cycling and reducing the risk of thermal expansion-related failures. ADSS cables feature a self-supporting design, eliminating the need for additional messenger wires. This lightweight construction facilitates rapid installation, allowing for spans of up to 200 meters without intermediate support, thereby minimizing installation costs and reducing operational downtime.

Water Resistance

IP68 rating; designed to withstand immersion in water and resist moisture ingress.

UV Resistance

UV-stabilized materials provide protection against degradation from sun exposure.

Cross-sectional Area

Varies by design, typically ranging from 1 mm² to 12 mm² for optical fibers.

Sheath Material

Durable, high-density polyethylene (HDPE) for mechanical protection and environmental resistance.

Armoring

Optional steel wire or aluminum armoring for added mechanical protection in harsh environments.

Current-Carrying Capacity

Up to 5 A depending on conductor size and environmental conditions; specified per application.

Flexibility

Designed for easy handling and installation; maintains flexibility under varying temperatures.

Cable Size

Available in various sizes; common diameters range from 8 mm to 20 mm.

Outer Diameter

Typically between 10 mm and 25 mm, depending on design and application requirements.

Mechanical Protection

Reinforced design to withstand tensile loads and environmental stress; impact-resistant.

Standards Compliance

Complies with IEC, ANSI, and Telcordia GR-20 standards

Technical Advantages

The fully dielectric nature of ADSS cables ensures electrical isolation, preventing electromagnetic interference (EMI) from impacting data transmission. This characteristic allows installations near power lines without additional shielding, preserving signal integrity over long distances.

Our Aerial cables incorporate advanced fiber optic technology, including multi-mode and single-mode fibers capable of supporting data rates exceeding 100 Gbps. The optimized core design enhances light propagation, enabling high-capacity data transmission across extensive networks while minimizing signal loss.

Having Doubts? Our FAQ

Check all our Frequently Asked Question

How do ADSS cables handle long-span installations without support structures?

ADSS cables are designed to be self-supporting. They use high-tensile strength materials like aramid yarns to support their weight across long distances. This allows them to span several kilometers between poles without additional support, making them ideal for power lines and other large-scale installations.

What type of UV protection is used in ADSS cables for outdoor installations?

ADSS cables have a specially engineered outer jacket that protects against UV radiation. This jacket is often made from polyethylene or other UV-resistant materials that prevent the cable from degrading, even when exposed to direct sunlight for years.

How do ADSS cables perform in areas with high electrical fields?

ADSS cables are made of dielectric materials, which means they don’t conduct electricity. This feature makes them ideal for installation near high-voltage power lines because they resist electrical interference and eliminate the risk of short circuits, ensuring long-term reliability.

What are the key differences between ADSS cables and traditional aerial cables?

ADSS cables are completely non-metallic, which allows them to be installed closer to power lines without the risk of electric shock or interference. Traditional aerial cables often use steel or aluminum reinforcements, making them heavier and more prone to issues in high-voltage environments.

How do environmental factors like ice and wind affect aerial cables?

Aerial cables are designed to withstand harsh environmental conditions. They are constructed with weather-resistant materials that prevent ice, snow, and wind damage. In cold climates, ADSS cables can be engineered with anti-icing coatings to reduce ice build-up, while their high-tensile design ensures they can bear additional loads from wind and snow.
