Combat Vehicle Suspension Link

Combat Vehicle Suspension Link is engineered to transmit torsional and vertical loads generated during high-mobility operations. It sustains asymmetric forces caused by terrain-induced impacts and side loads without compromising alignment or inducing material creep. Closed-die forged construction and controlled grain flow orientation ensure minimal microstructural distortion during stress cycling.

Material Specification

4340M Steel (MIL-S-5000 Grade 5) or ASTM A723 Class 3

Dimensional Accuracy

±0.1mm (body), ±0.025mm (bushing interfaces)

Surface Finish

Ra ≤ 1.6μm (sliding surfaces), ≤3.2μm (structural)

Hardness Requirement

34-38 HRC (core), 55-60 HRC (case-hardened wear surfaces)

Impact Toughness

40J Charpy V-notch @ -40°C (MIL-STD-1946)

Product Description

Combat Vehicle Suspension Link is designed to withstand millions of load cycles under variable amplitude loading, a common profile in tracked combat platforms. Fracture-critical regions are contoured through FEA-driven design, reducing stress concentration factors. All load-bearing zones are shot-peened post-machining to enhance resistance against surface-initiated fatigue cracks.

Fatigue Life

500,000 cycles @ 3x GVW (MIL-STD-1530D)

Certification Standard

AQAP-2110, MIL-V-46105, STANAG 4569 Annex B

Non-Destructive Testing (NDT)

100% MPI (ASTM E1444), 10% UT (ASTM E213)

Corrosion Resistance

Zinc-nickel plating (MIL-DTL-32119) or HVOF coating

Dynamic Load Capacity

25,000N vertical / 15,000N lateral (MIL-STD-810G)

Technical Advantages

Combat Vehicle Suspension Link maintains dimensional stability under thermal loads arising from sustained braking, environmental exposure, or adjacent exhaust components. Low thermal expansion alloys are used to reduce differential elongation, ensuring preserved bearing clearance and bushing geometry in both arid and arctic climates.

Combat Vehicle Suspension Link ensures geometric control of suspension articulation points, supporting proper camber, toe, and track tension in modular combat vehicle chassis. Axial and radial misalignments are minimized through machined reference surfaces and concentricity-controlled bores, eliminating the need for field adjustments post-installation.

Industry Applications

Tracked Infantry Fighting Vehicles (IFVs)

Supports high-load transfer and maintains track alignment during cross-country mobility, turret rotation, and high-speed maneuvering under battlefield stress.

Main Battle Tanks (MBTs)

Handles extreme torsional and vertical loads during rapid acceleration, recoil absorption, and terrain-induced chassis articulation over complex terrain.

Armored Personnel Carriers (APCs)

Ensures suspension geometry stability under variable payload conditions, including troop movement, weapon station recoil, and gradient traversal.

Self-Propelled Artillery Platforms

Provides robust suspension linkage during firing cycles, absorbing recoil-induced impulse loads without disturbing base platform alignment.

Armored Recovery Vehicles (ARVs)

Withstands non-uniform load distribution during vehicle towing, lifting operations, and combat-zone recovery tasks involving high-impact chassis loads.

Combat Engineering Vehicles (CEVs)

Accommodates structural loads from onboard breaching systems, dozer blades, and earth-moving attachments during excavation or obstacle-clearing operations.

Corrosion and Particulate Ingress Protection

Combat Vehicle Suspension Link is protected using MIL-DTL-16232 phosphate base coatings with subsequent application of epoxy or ceramic-based top layers. Joint assemblies incorporate integrated wiper seals and PTFE-lined spherical bearings to prevent ingress of silica, salt spray, and hydrocarbon contaminants during amphibious or desert operations.

Combat Vehicle Suspension Link is dynamically balanced and load-symmetrical to prevent unequal hydraulic pressure distribution in hydropneumatic suspension systems. Each link maintains elastic compliance limits under lateral stress, ensuring consistent damping response and preventing suspension height drift over long-duration deployment.
