Optimized for high-flex applications; bend radius ≤ 10× outer diameter

Cable Size

Available from 1-core to multi-core configurations (up to 24 cores)

Outer Diameter

Typically 10 mm to 50 mm, depending on core count and insulation

Mechanical Protection

Impact and crush resistant according to EN 50264 and EN 50363 standards

Standards Compliance

IEC 60228, VDE 0295, ISO 9001, and IEC 60794-1

Technical Advantages

Maintaining data integrity is critical in industrial environments, especially in systems that require precise communication between control units and machinery. Fibre festoon cables utilize fiber-optic cores for data transmission, eliminating the risk of electromagnetic interference (EMI), common in systems exposed to high voltages, electric fields, or power surges. This ensures zero signal attenuation over long distances, maintaining the reliability of data, control, and feedback signals in high-noise environments such as factories, shipyards, and automated warehouses.

Fibre festoon cables use fiber-optic strands, significantly reducing the weight-to-performance ratio. The cables feature a low bending radius, allowing for efficient cable management within festoon systems. Their flexibility minimizes wear on guide rollers and pulleys, reducing mechanical stress on the cable and the festoon system, thus extending system life. Furthermore, their lightweight design minimizes the load on moving components, which optimizes energy consumption in high-cycle machinery.

Optimized for High-Cycle Dynamic Systems

Fibre festoon cables are specifically engineered for high-cycle, continuous motion systems, emphasizing reducing maintenance intervals. The outer sheath, often made from high-performance PUR or cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE), offers exceptional resistance to abrasion, oils, chemicals, UV radiation, and environmental contaminants. This robust sheath ensures that cables can operate in extreme conditions, from highly corrosive industrial environments to outdoor applications exposed to UV light and varying temperatures, with minimal wear. Reduced wear translates directly to an extended cable lifecycle, lowering the total cost of ownership (TCO).

Having Doubts? Our FAQ

Check all our Frequently Asked Question

How do fiber festoon cables maintain signal integrity during high-speed operations?

Fibre festoon cables are designed with advanced shielding and insulation to protect the optical fibers from electromagnetic interference (EMI) and mechanical stress. By reducing signal degradation over long distances, the cables ensure stable signal transmission even in high-speed or dynamic environments, making them ideal for automated systems.

What materials are used in fiber festoon cables to withstand harsh industrial conditions?

Fibre festoon cables are typically constructed with high-performance thermoplastic or rubber jackets, which resist chemicals, oils, UV exposure, and extreme temperatures. The core optical fibers are also protected by aramid yarn or steel wire reinforcements to enhance durability and tensile strength.

Can fiber festoon cables be customized for specific bending radius requirements in moving applications?

Fibre festoon cables can be custom-engineered to meet specific bending radius and flexibility needs. By adjusting the cable’s design, such as using stranded fibers and flexible outer jackets, manufacturers can optimize them for continuous movement in applications like cranes, hoists, or automated production lines.

How do fiber festoon cables ensure long-term performance in systems with constant motion?

Fibre festoon cables are engineered to handle repeated flexing, bending, and twisting without compromising their optical performance. They are built with materials that reduce wear and tear over time and are tested for thousands of cycles in dynamic applications to ensure reliable performance in moving environments.

What are the advantages of using fiberfestoon cables over copper-based cables in industrial applications?

Fibre festoon cables offer several advantages over traditional copper cables, including higher data transmission rates, immunity to electromagnetic interference, and greater flexibility over long distances. They are also lighter and more durable, making them ideal for industrial applications that require high-speed communication and frequent motion.
