Type J Power Cords

Type J Power Cords are designed for systems adhering to the Swiss SEV 1011 standard with a unique three-pin configuration rated for 10A or 16A at 250V AC. The grounding pin is offset above the line and neutral pins, ensuring precise polarization and secure earth continuity in Swiss-compatible sockets. These cords provide full mechanical and electrical interlock with Type J receptacles used in both residential and industrial-grade applications.

ENEC, SEV, RoHS, REACH, ISO 9001:2015 manufacturing compliance

ENEC, SEV, RoHS, REACH, ISO 9001:2015 manufacturing compliance

Technical Advantages

Type J Power Cords operate within conductor temperature classes up to 70°C for standard PVC and up to 90°C for heat-resistant variants. The cords support continuous load cycles in enclosed thermal zones without compromising sheath integrity. Cable derating factors under bundling or elevated ambient temperature are accounted for in design to prevent thermal overloading.

Type J Power Cords use nickel-plated solid brass pins for high conductivity and corrosion resistance. Mechanical retention force between plug and socket exceeds 30N, reducing unintentional disconnection. Contact resistance is maintained below 15 mΩ across more than 10,000 mating cycles, minimizing insertion loss and arcing risks during long-term use.

Type J Power Cords

Flame Retardancy and Fire Safety

Type J Power Cords are tested to IEC 60332-1 for flame propagation resistance. Optional LSZH (Low Smoke Zero Halogen) jackets reduce emission of corrosive gases during combustion. Cable sheathing maintains tensile strength and elongation values post flame exposure, ensuring compliance with EN 50525 fire resistance benchmarks.

Type J Power Cords are designed to minimize electromagnetic emission through tightly twisted conductor pairs and optimized shielding where applicable. Conductor geometry and insulation material selection are made considering the coupling impedance and leakage current suppression for Class I devices. This improves electromagnetic compatibility in sensitive environments.

Check all our Frequently Asked Question

How does Frigate ensure the conductor quality in Type J Power Cords for current stability?

Frigate uses electrolytic grade copper with ≥99.95% purity for all Type J Power Cords. This ensures minimal resistive loss under rated loads. Each conductor batch undergoes cross-sectional measurement and DC resistance testing per IEC 60228. Stable current transmission is maintained even during extended operation at 250V/16A.

What insulation material standards does Frigate follow for Type J Power Cords used in harsh environments?

Frigate manufactures Type J Power Cords with insulation compounds conforming to IEC 60227 (PVC) or IEC 60245 (rubber). These materials exhibit high dielectric strength and thermal aging resistance. Insulation breakdown voltage exceeds 2.5kV, preventing surface tracking and arc formation. Material selection is based on end-use thermal and mechanical stress profiles.

How are Frigate’s Type J Power Cords tested for mechanical durability and flex endurance?

Frigate subjects all Type J Power Cords to bend tests as per IEC 60227-2 Clause 5.6. The cables undergo 10,000 flexing cycles over a 75 mm radius without conductor breakage. Plug-body joints are tested under 30N pull force for strain relief validation. This ensures reliability during repeated installation or equipment movement.

What certifications does Frigate provide with Type J Power Cords for OEM and regulatory compliance?

Each Type J Power Cords from Frigate is supplied with ENEC and SEV certification documentation. The cords comply with RoHS, REACH, and are manufactured under ISO 9001:2015 certified processes. Full traceability is maintained through batch labels and internal test reports. These certifications meet both domestic Swiss and EU export requirements.

Can Frigate customize Type J Power Cords for integration with IEC appliance connectors like C13 or C19?

Yes, Frigate offers Type J Power Cords with molded IEC connectors including C5, C13, C15, and C19. Custom terminations follow IEC 60320-1 mechanical and electrical interface guidelines. Conductor cross-section and sheath OD are matched for strain relief and insertion fit. This supports integration with a wide range of power entry modules.
