USB-C PD Power Cords

USB-C PD Power Cords ensures voltage stability under variable load by utilizing EMCA-controlled E-marker chips supporting USB PD 3.1 profiles. The power negotiation supports programmable power supply (PPS) mode with granular voltage steps (20mV) between 3.3V to 21V and fixed voltages up to 48V. This eliminates transient undervoltage conditions during high-wattage switching or device renegotiation.

Technical Advantages

USB-C PD Power Cord achieves sub-250mV voltage drop at 5A over 1-meter length, critical for maintaining PD trigger voltages at the sink. Low-resistance paths are achieved using precision crimping, gold-plated contacts (≥30μin), and impedance-matched terminations. This allows full-wattage delivery without fallback to reduced profiles, ensuring compliance with PD contract requirements.

USB-C PD Power Cord supports SuperSpeed data transmission up to 10 Gbps by maintaining 90Ω ±10% differential impedance across USB 3.2 TX/RX lanes. Controlled impedance routing, foil shielding, and external braid minimize insertion loss and return loss. The cable exhibits sub-1 ps intra-pair skew and maintains eye-diagram integrity at 5 GHz.

Electromagnetic Compatibility and Crosstalk Rejection

USB-C PD Power Cords uses individual shielding on high-speed pairs, drain wires for signal ground reference, and full-coverage aluminum-mylar wraps to achieve EMI attenuation of >60 dB across 30 MHz–1 GHz. Pair-to-pair crosstalk remains below -45 dB, enabling usage in electrically noisy environments including industrial and automotive enclosures.

USB-C PD Power Cords includes overmolded USB Type-C connectors with liquid crystal polymer (LCP) housings to withstand thermomechanical stress. Contacts are gold-plated over nickel per ASTM B488 and meet ≥10,000 mating cycle requirements. The mating interface is laser-aligned for dimensional repeatability under mechanical deflection and torsion.

Having Doubts? Our FAQ

Check all our Frequently Asked Question

How does Frigate ensure compliance with USB PD 3.1 EPR for 240W USB-C PD Power Cords?

Frigate uses certified E-marker chips that support USB PD 3.1 EPR mode, enabling voltage up to 48V at 5A (240W). Each USB-C PD Power Cord is tested for role negotiation and programmable power supply (PPS) behavior. Cords are validated using PD analyzers for fixed and variable voltage profiles. This ensures safe power delivery across high-wattage endpoints.

What type of shielding construction does Frigate use to maintain high signal integrity in USB-C PD Power Cords?

Frigate implements dual-layer shielding using aluminum-mylar foil and tinned copper braid over SuperSpeed pairs. Each USB-C PD Power Cord includes independent shielding for VBUS, CC, and high-speed data lanes. This structure ensures low EMI emission and crosstalk performance below -45 dB. Shielding continuity is verified with TDR and high-frequency S-parameter testing.

How does Frigate prevent contact resistance failures in USB-C PD Power Cord connectors?

Frigate uses precision-machined USB-C connectors with 30μin gold over nickel plating on the contact surfaces. Each USB-C PD Power Cord undergoes contact resistance testing to stay below 30 milliohms. Frigate follows IEC 60512-2 test procedures for plug-and-unplug durability up to 10,000 cycles. This ensures reliable contact under continuous electrical and mechanical stress.

Can Frigate customize USB-C PD Power Cord for high-flex or robotic applications?

Yes, Frigate designs USB-C PD Power Cords using high-flex jacket compounds and fine-stranded conductors for bend radius below 10× OD. Strain relief and overmold geometry are optimized using 3D FEA simulation for motion durability. Each cable is tested to >10,000 flex cycles at 180° with 1 Hz frequency. This ensures stable performance in dynamic mechanical environments.

What kind of end-to-end testing does Frigate perform on USB-C PD Power Cords before shipment?

Frigate tests every USB-C PD Power Cord for continuity, insulation resistance, high-pot dielectric strength, and real-time PD negotiation. TDR and impedance analysis are used to verify 90Ω differential impedance on data lanes. E-marker data is read and validated against programmed values for current and voltage ratings. All tests follow IPC/WHMA-A-620 and USB-IF acceptance criteria.
