Frigate Reactors are designed using Class F or H insulation systems, allowing continuous operation at elevated temperatures without thermal degradation. The coils are vacuum-impregnated to enhance heat dissipation and prevent hot spots. Core materials are selected for low hysteresis and eddy current losses, minimizing internal heating. Each unit undergoes thermal simulation and type testing under worst-case load conditions.
Frigate designs reactors to handle peak short-circuit currents based on IEC 60076-6 standards. The winding structure is reinforced with high mechanical strength supports and resin-locked conductors. This prevents deformation during fault events and maintains inductive integrity. Customized short-time withstand ratings are provided based on fault duration and system impedance.
Frigate uses oversized magnetic cores with higher cross-sectional area to delay core saturation under nonlinear loads. The inductance remains stable even when exposed to elevated harmonic content from VFDs or soft starters. This maintains filtering performance and prevents thermal runaway. Magnetic simulations are done during design to predict flux density under distorted waveforms.
Frigate controls inductance using precision winding machines and controlled core air gaps. Each reactor is tested for actual inductance at rated current and frequency using calibrated LCR meters. The variation is kept within ±5% or as per project specification. Consistent inductance ensures accurate harmonic filtering and system stability.
Frigate offers marine-grade reactors with epoxy-coated cores and anti-corrosive hardware to withstand salt-laden environments. All components comply with DNV or ABS marine specifications where applicable. Enclosures are IP-rated, and thermal derating is considered for sealed environments. Vibration testing is conducted as per IEC 60068 to ensure mechanical durability.
